Wheatland R-2 School was one of 17 area school libraries to receive a donation of 3 books from the Matilda Polk Campbell Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution. This year the donation was centered on honoring and respecting American servicemen in honor of Veteran's Day. This is part of the ongoing DAR commitment to patriotism, preserving history, education and literacy. #WeAreWheatland #BooksAboutOurHeroes

WHEATLAND PATRONS:
In light of recent questions directed to the district, the Wheatland School Board feels it is important to share accurate information with our community.
First, recently a local media outlet inaccurately portrayed the district’s financial condition in an unfavorable light. We want to clarify that the financial health and stability of our district is very strong. Currently, our district reserve funds are at 54%, reflecting an extremely solid financial position.
Additionally, we’ve received inquiries regarding the upcoming election and the consolidation measure on the ballot. It’s important to note that, by law, neither the school nor the school board is permitted to campaign collectively on ballot issues.
Below are questions that have been recently brought to the district:
Why haven't we heard from the school district about the election?
By law, public school districts and school boards are prohibited from campaigning as a group regarding ballot measures. This means they cannot advocate for or against issues on the ballot, including consolidation proposals. They can provide factual information to help voters understand the implications.
How did the consolidation issue get placed on the ballot?
A group of community members gathered the required number of petition signatures to initiate the process. Once those signatures were verified and certified by the county courthouse, the school board was legally obligated to approve placing the issue on the ballot. This is a procedural requirement under state law and does not reflect advocacy by the board.
Also provided in the image is a document from the board meeting minutes in May of 2025. At this meeting the provided statement and resolution were approved by the board.
