GAME DAY! Good luck and safe travels to our boys team as they travel to St. Joseph for the Walk Off Wood Bat Tournament this weekend. The Mules will play Sioux Falls Christian tonight at 6:30 PM. Be sure and walk on Gamechanger if you can't make the trip. Our Mules are currently 12-0 and show no signs of slowing down. Keep rolling boys!

Wheatland Baseball defeated Liberal tonight led by Ohrazda pitching and the Sawyer boys at the plate. Wheatland started slow but, eventually dispatched Liberal on Thursday at Liberal, MO, 9-2. Wheatland opened the scoring in the top of the third thanks to two singles. Wheatland first got on the board when Andrew Dougherty singled, scoring Braden Sawyer. Next Nate Sawyer singled to score Dougherty. Avery Ohrazda started on the mound for the Mules. The righty took a no hitter into the 7th inning before giving up a couple runs. Ohrazda used his fastball and breaking pitches well to keep Liberal off balance. Wheatland collected nine hits in the game. Nate and Braden Sawyer each had two hits, with Braden collecting two doubles. Nate was on base four times. Mendenhall scored a couple runs with a pair of hits. Andrew Dougherty led Wheatland with two runs batted in. Nate Sawyer stole three bases. The team ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game. Ohrazda was also on base four times with a walk and three hit by pitches. Next up for Wheatland is a game vs Sioux Falls Christian on Friday in St Joseph, MO in the Walkoff Wood Bat Tournament.

Strong pitching by Brett Dougherty combined with good defense and consistent bats lead Wheatland to a 9-0 win over Crocker improving their record to 11-0. Brock Mendenhall collected three hits in four at bats in the game. Mendenhall singled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fourth inning. Crocker tried endlessly to keep Brock close to first with pickoff moves, but were unsuccessful as he stole several bases. A single by Brett Dougherty put the Mules on the board in the bottom of the first. Wheatland extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI singles by Brett Dougherty and Avery Ohrazda. A highlight in the last inning was a sensational play by Brock Mendenghall making a diving catch on a low line drive to center field. Brett Dougherty nearly finished the complete game shutout. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking three. Avery Ohrazda appeared in relief and recorded the final out. Wheatland piled up 10 hits in the game. Both Andrew and Brett Dougherty drove in two runs for Wheatland Varsity Mules. Ohrazda collected two hits for Wheatland Varsity Mules in three at bats. Mendenhall stole two bases. Wheatland stole five bases in the game. Wheatland was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Braden Sawyer, Nate Sawyer and Bradley each contributed hits in the game. Next up for Wheatland is a game at Liberal on Thursday at 5pm. Wheatland Baseball Tournament Schedule for next week!

Wheatland Baseball took down Conway 4-3 on Monday in a highly entertaining game in Wheatland, MO. Wheatland opened the scoring in the second after Bradley Phillips singled, scoring Braden Sawyer. In the top of the third inning, Conway went back into the lead scoring two runs. Andrew Dougherty singled, which scored Brock Mendenhall and tied the game at two in the bottom of the third. Wheatland took the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by Brett Dougherty hit into the wind in left center field. This gave Wheatland the lead, 3-2. Andrew Murphy started on the hill for the Mules and was very sharp. The righty gave up two hits and two runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking three. Murphy looked strong in the fifth inning, but came out of the game after five to keep eligibility to pitch in this weekend's tournament. Tucker Shaddox relieved Murphy and finished the last two innings giving up one run and striking out three. It was an impressive performance by the Mules pitchers. Those in attendance enjoyed the highly contested ballgame. Drew Dougherty, Phillips, Brett Dougherty, and Brock Mendenhall each drove in one run for Wheatland. Braden Sawyer led Wheatland with two hits in three at bats. Wheatland stole four bases in the game. They face Crocker at home today at 5pm.

The Wheatland Mules Defeat El Dorado Springs on a 13 hit team effort. Nothing came easy for the Mules at El Dorado Springs on Tuesday, but the Mules persevered 10-7. Uncharacteristic Mules mistakes left the door open for the Bulldogs and they took advantage early keeping the game close. Wheatland got on the board in the top of the first inning after Andrew Dougherty singled to center field, and Braden Sawyer grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. Wheatland Varsity Mules added one run in the third. Sawyer singled to center field, making the score 3-1. El Dorado Springs took the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the third thanks to singles by Ewart, and Crawford. Wheatland Varsity Mules jumped into the lead in the top of the fourth when Brock Mendenhall hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Dougherty singled, scoring two runs. El Dorado Springs tied the game in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a single by Ewart, and a fielder's choice by Alexander. Wheatland Varsity Mules made the score 10-6 in the top of the sixth after Avery Ohrazda drew a walk, scoring one run, Bradley Phillips grounded out, scoring one run, and Shaddox singled, scoring two runs. Nathan Sawyer pitched four and two-thirds innings in relief for the Mules pounding the strike zone. The hurler gave up one earned run while, striking out five and walking two. Mendenhall stepped on the bump first for Wheatland Mules. Wheatland Mules piled up 13 hits in the game. Sawyer, Shaddox, and Andrew Dougherty each drove in two runs for Wheatland Varsity Mules. Nate Sawyer, Shaddox and Brett Dougherty each collected multiple hits for Wheatland Mules. Shaddox stole two bases. Wheatland Mules showed patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Wheatland Mules ran wild on the base paths, amassing four stolen bases for the game. Wheatland hosts Crocker on Wednesday for their next home game.
