WATER TESTING RESULTS
A new state law requires each school to test water outlets used for consumption for lead. Wheatland School started the testing process in November of '23 by testing all water outlets in the school. The initial results show that our water machines/bottle fillers and a majority of outlets were safely within regulation. However, we did have some other outlets that were above the new threshold or limit set by the state. These outlets were shut down at the time we received the results. Our mitigation for these faucets over the limit was to replace the faucets and/or clean the faucets prior to a second round of testing. Any faucets which tested for lead over the limit a second time were :
1. Put out of use permanently
2. Replaced with a filtered water machine or
3. Designated with a sign as "note for drinking or consumption".
No water outlets were used for drinking or consumption after testing over the limit for lead prior to a 2nd test showing the lead below the appropriate level.
Shown below are both rounds of lead testing for our water outlets. This testing will be done annually.
